Time for costumes and parties, Halloween can mean last-minute scrambling for those who do not think ahead. If you are a man in this situation, choose from several easy and fast costume ideas that you can make in a few hours before a party. These costumes use mostly items that you already have around the house or can easily purchase at a neighborhood thrift store.
Zombies Halloween Custom
Zombies are popular costumes because they are both easy and versatile. Begin with some clothes from your local thrift store. They can be random, or you can follow a theme such as “zombie football player” or “zombie cop.” Rub the clothes in dirt to grunge them up and tear random holes in them. Wear the clothes with a store-bought zombie mask, or use makeup to shadow your eye sockets, temples and under your cheeks. Remember to walk with a stagger and moan a lot.
Toga Halloween Custom
A toga is just about the easiest homemade costume a man can come up with to solve last-minute stress. Wrap a plain, white bedsheet around your waist a few times like a towel, then throw the rest over one shoulder and safety pin it in place at your hip. Add a pair of sandals and you have a costume. If you want to add a bit more, wear a wreath of laurels around your head and carry around a large wine goblet.
Rubik’s Cube Halloween Custom
Cut the bottom out of a square box that is long enough to cover your torso. Cut holes for your head and arms, then color the entire surface with black spray paint (if time allows). Once the paint has dried, cut nine squares of white, red, blue, green, orange and yellow construction paper. Tape or glue the squares in 3-by-3 grids on each side of the box, leaving a bit of black showing between them. Wear this costume with black pants and a black shirt.
Classic Nerd Halloween Custom
The classic nerd costume is another one that can be assembled with a quick trip to a thrift store. Begin with a short-sleeved dress shirt and high-water pants held up with suspenders. Add a bow tie and pocket protector full of pens. Add a thick-rimmed pair of glasses and style your hair with a severe part using lots of hair gel. If you want to go all out, get a pair of Jerry Lewis teeth from a costume shop.
Gangster Halloween Custom
The classic gangster costume is instantly recognizable and always a stylish choice. Wear a black suit with white pinstripes. Add a black dress shirt, a red or white tie and a solid vest in a cream or gray color. Finish the costume with a black fedora. You can carry around a toy tommy gun, or simply carry a violin case. Get into character with a thick wiseguy accent.
